Raegan was much better on Wednesday. Shaina and baby Andrew came over to visit. Raegan was so sweet to him. She took him many of her things: pacifier, banana, wipes, diapers, and water. She also wanted me to spray him with water, but that didn't seem like a good idea. She thinks it's funny when I mist her, so you can't blame her for wanting to share the experience with a friend. She tried to pick up his car seat and carry him to the car. She pets him very gently on the chest and feet, but not the face, which is good.
Thursday we went to her 15 month check up and she hated every minute of it! She hasn't been like that at a check up since she was 3 months old. She was so pleasant in the waiting room. She sat in a chair and made phone calls. Then she started crying as soon as the nurse put the heart rate clip on her toe and kept taking it off. She cried on the scale and wanted to be held the whole time. She is a hefty 19 pounds and 13 ounces. I thought she was about 21 or 22 pounds. . . maybe I'm just getting weaker. Her doctor was very kind to give a check up to Raegan's doll to help ease her mood, and it helped a little. We were relieved to know that the doll's heart rate is strong and her ears are clean. She calmed down for the rest of the exam, but as soon as we laid her down for the shots she lost it. I hate having the job of holding her arms down.
That afternoon we went for a walk and she wandered onto the neighbor's porch, as usual. I smelled gas and walked by again to double-check. I thought our neighbors were still out of town, so I called the gas company and they arrived within 30 minutes. I went out to check on things and the man told me I could work for them if I wanted to. He said it was a very small leak and wondered how I smelled it. I am reminded of a great Michael Scott quote: "I saved a life…my own. Am I a hero? I can’t really say, but…yes."
Friday at The Little Gym, Raegan was especially independent. Some of the mats were set up differently with a set of parallel bars as guides, and she was very interested in that area. She was excited for the bubbles and balls and was a good helper when it was time to put things away. Singing is a great way to get her to clean up! I'm toying around with the idea of turning our whole day into a musical. Tonight I dropped off our consignment items. It was a mad house and I got the heck out of Dodge without even shopping the pre-sale. There was pizza waiting on me at home, so it was a no-brainer.
