The Wooden Anniversary

I'd like for my arms to look like this again.

Cutting the cake was easily the most awkward moment of the day. We agreed to not smash the cake in each other's face, but I guess we forgot to decide what we were going to do. We each had a piece on a plate, fed ourselves a bite with a fork, and said "Mmmm, this is good." Exit stage.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary this week. When we got married, I acknowledged that marriage would be work, but I didn't think it would be hard work. We've had some major changes in five years, namely moving away from TN and having the best baby we could ever ask for. I understand now that it takes work. We're not having to work to like each other, but it does take a conscious effort at times to let a petty situation go or talk through something instead of pouting (both of those behaviors are mine, not Ryan's).

My dad officiated our wedding. His main message consisted of the lyrics to "All You Need is Love." It was beautiful and perfect for us. Even though John Lennon thinks "it's easy" I can't always agree. I guess that's where the work has to comes in at times. If you are committed to the relationship, you will find a way to make things work for good. In keeping with our wedding message, I was excited to find a Beatles shirt for Raegan at Target last week. I made sure she wore it on out anniversary :)

This print is my gift to Ryan (us). The traditional gift for the fifth anniversary is wood, and I think this print is a neat take on that theme.
I ordered it from a really original shop on etsy called vol25.
