Bandelier

A major accomplishment of the week was getting a new license plate, tags, and driver's license. After several frustrating trips to the MVD, I went to the MVD Express Friday afternoon and waited 2 minutes before being helped. It was such a relief to get that taken care of! I feel like I had a better week at school with the autistic boys. Plus, I'm getting quite a nice tan from recess!  I have to share a funny moment... With autism, there are varying levels of how verbal a child is, and we have one boy who is very verbal. Friday I was walking him to the bathroom and he yelled , "I farted! Eww, dat's nasty!" I said, "Just say 'excuse me.' "  So he said "Excuse me... ewww dat's gross, I farted." I don't think they mean to be funny sometimes, but they are :) I will work with him on his public announcements. He usually responds to the phrase "that's enough" so I'll try that next time, because I assure you it will happen again.
I saw a hot air balloon over our neighborhood one morning this week on my way to work. A teacher at school said there will be a lot more up soon when the temperature cools off a little bit. Come and join us for the Balloon Fiesta on October :) It rained all day here today. Usually when there is rain in the daily forecast it rains for about 20 minutes and that's it. Today, though, it poured all day long. It is much needed here, so that's ok. We had already decided to go to Bandelier with Tony and Shaina today, so we headed out at about 11:00. It started raining about 10 minutes into our drive and continued for the first 30 minutes of our hike. The remains of the cliff and cave dwellings of the Anasazi Indians are at Bandelier, so we hiked around and explored for a couple of hours. Then we came back through Santa Fe in hopes of trying a Mexican restaurant we heard about, but it was closed.

I had another custom order this week for invitations from my friend Lindsey. She asked for invitations to our friend Leslie's wedding shower, and I had a lot of fun making them. I started a few Christmas designs and I'm also thinking up some other ideas to build a wide variety of designs. Ryan and I are very glad for an extra day off tomorrow! I don't think we are doing anything special, just sleeping in and running errands. I'll try to post some pictures from our hike. Enjoy the day off tomorrow if you have it!
