Spray Park

Look at that gap-tooth smile! I love it!!

This week she has been getting into all kinds of baskets and containers. As you can see, she's too big for some of them, but that doesn't stop her.

On a whim we went to the spray park on Friday. My moms group does activities during the week other than play group, but I rarely think to check the schedule. I'm not really an on-a-whim type of person, but we didn't have anything pressing to do, so we got ourselves together and headed out. Raegan had a blast! She played and walked around non-stop for an hour. She was perfectly content to be in her own little world and do whatever she pleased. Some of the older kids were squealing and having fun, so she needed to squeal too. She didn't know what to think about her face being sprayed, but she took it well. She just stood there, like "What is this?!" A little boy pushed her down for no reason, but I didn't push him back. I told him "no pushing" and kept a close eye on him the rest of the time when Reagan was near him. Punk.

Raegan has quite a sense of humor. She loves playing peek-a-boo with us and covering her face with anything she can find: laundry, blankets, or her placemat. She pulls things over her face and just stands there for a while, waiting for us to notice and play along, which means acting sad that we can't find her. Sometimes I can tell she's trying not to laugh underneath. She's trying to say some new words: "help", "all done", "thank you", "apple", "phone" and "call." We know what she means by the context. We're working on acknowledging what she says or signs, but also helping her understand that she can't always get what she wants . . . but if she tries sometimes, she might find, she'll get what she needs. Anyways, she sometimes tells us she's all done after being at the table for 5 minutes. We say "You said you're all done, but let's wait for mom and dad to eat."

Tonight was Tony and Shaina's baby shower, but the guests of honor are at the hospital! Shaina's water broke this morning (3 weeks early) and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their baby boy!! Raegan will be such a great friend and show him the ropes in this big world :)
