Flash Back

As I checked the TV Guide for tomorrow's opening round of the College Softball World Series, I flashed back to this exact time last year. I love the World Series and I always look forward to seeing so much softball on TV. For a brief second I felt the same excitement as last year, but I quickly realized this year is a little different - I have a baby. I remember it was my first week out of school. I got my hair trimmed that Thursday morning, browsed Borders next door, got some coffee, and came home to settle in to a day of softball all by myself. My very pregnant self propped my feet up and enjoyed the freedom to do whatever I wanted, to sit and watch games all day and not feel bad about it. People say they don't remember life before their kids were born, but I sure do. I remember being able to run errands whenever I felt like it and not think about someone else's schedule or needs. I remember going out with Ryan in the evenings for coffee or to browse book stores. Sleeping in was always the highlight of my summers away from teaching. Now, sleeping in means 7 am, and that's rare. I won't get to see the games uninterrupted like I always have. I'll be chasing Raegan around the living room, reading her favorite books over and over, and changing diapers. I remember everything about our life before she was born, but I can't imagine not having her around.

That is so true Dana! Sometimes I think "wow, what did I do with all of my time before I had Kaylor". And sleeping in for me is for sure 7:00 a.m. Usually I am up by 5:30/6:00 every morning. But....I wouldn't change it for nothing!! :)
