We had a fun visit with Mimi over the past 10 days, and she made it back to Nashville safely in the storms. I can't believe the flooding that you all are experiencing!!
Raegan seems to be getting back on track with her naps and night time sleeping. She hasn't woken up crying during the night in over a week. We hear her stirring, but she puts herself back to sleep without fussing. She still has a 45 minute nap here and there, but she's having more that are 1 1/2 - 2 hours. She has 3 new teeth coming in. I didn't know baby teeth came in this quickly, one right after the other for this girl. She's tolerating it pretty well. She's been chewing on her fingers so hard that they are red. She decided to climb the stairs Saturday morning. Some days she crawls to the bottom step and stands up. Once or twice I've seen her try to lift her leg, but nothing more, and she moves on. Then, out of nowhere, she took off and climbed two steps before we got to her. With a spotter, she climbed the whole flight to the 2nd story like it was nothing. She's very interesting with her approach to these new adventures. It seems like she is quietly planning and scheming until the time is right and she can do it full force. She doesn't really dabble in new things. One day she just does it with ease like she's been doing it forever.
I'm sure everyone thinks their own child is smart, and I'm no exception. If I'm honest, I can't help but think she's a genius. She has genius genes from her dad. She picks up on new skills very quickly. She has an "Old McDonald" book that I sing to her. She watches my mouth very closely when I sing "E-I-E-I-O." A few days ago, my mom and I were talking while Raegan played in the floor. We heard her jabbering and looked over to see what she was doing. She had the book and I promise it sounded like she was trying to say "E-I-O." We both looked at each other like, "No way!" Exhibit B: She has an Exersaucer with a spot that makes animal sounds and plays songs when she hits it. I took a battery out of it to put in something else. She went over to it a couple of hours later and started banging on the animals and got mad that it wasn't making noise. If you hit it 4 times in a row it plays a song. She bangs on it until it gets to the song and turns around with a big smile on her face to say, "Hey, guys, this one's for you." I could go on and on, but I won't. I'm just really proud of her, and it's so neat to watch children learn. When I taught middle school, there wasn't a lot of instant gratification for me in terms of the children rapidly gaining new skills, so her stage of development is really exciting.
If you made it this far, thanks for sticking around to read my bragging :)
