Music to My Ears

Tuesday morning I had a check up and everything still looks great for me and the little Tamale. I gained 5 pounds since my last appointment. As I mentioned a while back, it's not exactly encouraging to see the nurse keep tapping the bar on the scale. This time, I "graduated" to the next bar on the bottom, you know, the ones that are in increments of 50. She had to move it from 100 to 150. They gave me information on pediatricians in the area and signs of early labor. They also suggested I pre-register at the hospital so that my information in already on file when the big day comes. Before my next appointment I have to have the glucose tolerance screening and drink the infamous sugary orange goo I've heard so much about.
One of the highlights of my week was finding an article about eating during labor. I've been concerned about this for a long time. It's fair to say that I'm not pleasant to be around if I get too hungry. I'm not mean, I just get irritable and ice chips and jell-o aren't going to help. However, I had already planned to stock our fridge with Jell-o cups and take it to the hospital. If I can have it, then I'm going to have plenty of it!  Don't think I wouldn't turn the car around and go back for it if we forgot it in a state of panic. Well, who needs Jell-o when a study showed no bad side effects in women who ate during labor. I'm not planning on having a cheeseburger or anything, but a PB & J and chocolate milk might be nice. You can be sure that a copy of this article will be going in to my hospital bag.
We finally ordered her nursery furniture this week. It should be here a few days before my dad gets here, just in time for him to help us put it together. Saturday I went to Babies R Us to get our stroller and car seat set because I had a 15% off coupon and a few gift cards. I bought it and one other small item for which I also had a 15% off coupon. For some reason the register added the coupons together so we got 30% off the car seat/stroller set which was unexpected and exciting! Who does't love a discount?!
I saw these cute little blocks in a magazine this week. You can put a picture in a clear pocket
on each side of the cube and help the baby learn people's faces. I thought it would be nice, especially while we are living away from family.
I recently designed a Thank You card for a friend whose little girl celebrated her first birthday yesterday. I hope they had a great party and enjoy their cards :)
I'm off to the grocery store and then getting settled to watch the Women's Final Four tonight!
