Happy Bur-day

I've been really excited for Raegan's birthday this year because she knows something's going on. I'm not good at putting presents away for her. I don't constantly buy her toys, but if I see something she would really like, I have a hard time waiting 2-3 months to buy it. Her kitchen was an "early present" in March. This year I managed to put two things in her birthday box and leave them for several weeks. Recently we went to an indoor play place with a great selection of toys. I got her a few small things while she was playing and took them to the car. I used all the will power I had to put them in the birthday box while she napped and not leave them out for her to see.

Here's her loot:

An Olivia shirt, water colors, Play-Doh Picnic set, truck watch, truck water bottle, farm counting place mat, stickers, Mamas and Babies matching game, and a karaoke microphone

Here are my predictions for the gifts:

I had a few puppy cupcakes made at our favorite "cake shaaaaahp" as Raegan says.

We had breakfast at our favorite place with Ryan before work, then I took her to the park. She didn't seem to want to be there, so we made a quick trip to Target to get out of the heat before nap time. I think the turbo sprinklers at the park scared her. She had a great nap while I wrapped her presents. For dinner we had pupperoni pizza then opened presents. She was very shy with the microphone but her first words were "Applebee." It's a song about a missing cat that's programmed on her keyboard. She loved her cupcake and ate the chocolate candies and some of the icing.

She pulled herself together for one nice picture with him.

Friday we had her 2 year well check. She weighs 22 pounds and 13 ounces and is 35 inches tall. As soon as the nurse came to the waiting room to call her name, she froze. It was like all the check up events came to her at once and she didn't budge. I carried her back and she cried most of the time with the nurse. She did much better with the doctor. Her pediatrician is so calm and reassuring. She examined Raegan's doll and then Raegan was fine with being checked out. Everything looks great! We can switch to 2% milk and should get rid of the binky very soon. Oh, how I do not look forward to that! Raegan is a pretty go-with-the-flow girl, but I think she will miss the binky. I have dreaded other transitions in the past and she always does great, so maybe this will be easier than I anticipate. I'm going to think of some clever ways to involve her in getting rid of it, and I'm open to hearing other people's strategies. I thought about throwing them in the trash truck when it comes by, but then she might attack every trash truck we see to try and get them back. I don't want to taint her love for the trash truck.
