20 Months

  • weighs 21 pounds, 3 ounces
  • makes up games for us to play, like grocery shopping where she swipes a card on the cash register (giant calculator)
  • seems to have memorized a lot of the Dr. Seuss' ABC book and overall has a great memory
  • 18 months clothing
  • size 5.5 shoe
  • sometimes continues reading in her bed for 20-30 minutes after Ryan reads to her and puts her down
  • new words and phrases: "minky" (my binky), "pitchus" (pictures), "juice", "how are you?", "chocky" (chocolate milk), "where are you?" (when she's looking for something), "ready?!", "mon" (come on), "walk" (wants to go for a walk or hold hands), "tired", "doctor", "boots", "box" (mailbox), "happy" (wants me to sing Happy Birthday to her baby), "catch", "backeem" (vacuum - She talks about the vacuum a lot, but doesn't want me to use it. She picked up the tiny brush that cleans Ryan's electric hair clippers and made vacuum sounds on the bathroom sink.)
  • likes her new potty book - Her favorite page is the "Uh Oh" page where the little girl has an accident, so we may not be making progress just yet ;)
  • also likes her new book called Binky about leaving binky in the crib - She has become very attached to it over the past few months. We used to give it to her just for naps and bedtime. When her last set of molars started coming in, she was chewing her fingers so hard it was leaving cuts and scratches. I figured I would rather her have the binky than tear up her hands. Now she wants it pretty often. We just recently started calling it binky to match the book. I think the binky needs to go away soon.
  • sings and does the motions to "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes"
  • rubs her pup's ear between her thumb and index finger - I see her doing this a lot lately. Ryan's mom said he did the same thing with a silky pillow case.

Friday I needed to tighten a screw on her crib. The tool reminded her of a key and she started saying "click click" like we say when we read Good Night, Gorilla. She turns the pretend key on all of the animal cages to let them out. She also has her trusty flashlight, just like Zookeeper Joe.

Tuesday we went to the pediatrician after 3 days of a fever and low energy - otherwise, no other symptoms. I called Monday afternoon, but all the doctors were completely booked. She was responding to Tylenol and drinking plenty of water, so we were okay to wait until the next day to be seen. By Tuesday she seemed fine and had no fever, but we went anyways. Her ped. checked her ears, breathing, and throat, and took a urine sample. Applying the U-bag (twice) was not a pleasant experience for anyone. Raegan actually drank some apple juice. She has always turned down juice. She's not potty trained, but her peeing is very consolidated, so we had to wait a while. Sometimes she stays dry for 2-3 hours. Thankfully, she has been dry for about 2 hours by the time they needed a sample. It was like reliving the night we left the hospital with her. We couldn't leave until she peed, and she came through right at the last minute or they would have kept us another night. This time around we read books, played drums with the tongue depressors, and shook the exam table paper like a parachute. Her sample came back totally normal. Her pediatrician sent us home and told me to watch for a rash in the next couple of days that would signal roseola, which starts with a fever, but she never got a rash. She has been fine since then and back to her normal, energetic self.
