We went to a friend's house on Friday to look through baby clothes and came home with a trash bag full of 9-18 month clothes. I knew Ryan would be excited that I took a little pair of Tevas :) With Raegan's fat cloth diaper bottom I don't think she'll be in some of her 6 month clothing much longer. I was fortunate to have almost all of her 0-3 month clothes given to us as gifts and she wore them for 4 months. Some things she wore before we came home for the holidays are too short now, and knowing she only wore the outfit 2-3 times is a little sickening. It just doesn't make much sense to me to put a lot of money into baby clothing. I can justify buying myself a pair of Merrells because I know I'll wear them for years and years, but babies grow too fast to invest a lot of money in their clothing. I went to Target yesterday and where did I end up?... in the baby clothes. Then I reminded myself how ridiculous it was to even consider buying something right now and moved on.
Ryan and I started "Insanity" again on Monday and I am proud to report that I successfully stuck to it this week. Saturday was my off day and I feel like i earned it. I have been known to reward myself too many off days in the past. We took some pretty pitiful "before pictures" to mark our progress when we're done in 60 days. Raegan enjoyed watching me work out the past couple of days. She thinks all the jumping is funny and I add sound effects to make her laugh. She grabbed her feet and looked like she was stretching with me during the cool down.
I used the Beaba this week to make butternut squash and pears (not together). I'm having fun making this food; too bad she doesn't like any of it yet. I've been sampling the fruits and vegetables I make for her, and I don't like them either! I tried plain sweet potatoes, butternut squash (gross) and pears. Is it just me, or do pears feel like they have tiny little pricklies sticking to your tongue? She hasn't eaten her oatmeal very well since we've been back. She's been sticking out her tongue and closing her lips around it so I can't get the spoon in her mouth. Then I started brainstorming about what the difference could be since she ate so well in Nashville. She ate in a bouncy seat at my parents' and Ryan's parents' but I've had her in the high chair here. I figured I'd try putting her in the bouncy seat today and she gobbled up her oatmeal in no time. She had her mouth open and ready for the next bite. She even tried a view bites of pears. I don't quite understand why we can only eat in the bouncer, but I don't care as long as she's eating. I guess she's a little creature of habit like the rest of us. I'll take some pictures of the food making process this week and post about it soon.
