3 months old

Raegan turned 3 months old this week! Here's a summary of what she's up to:
  • enjoys her play mat
  • weighs a little over 12 pounds
  • eats 4-5 ounces per feeding
  • sometimes sleeps through the night
  • loves to smile, especially when you tell her she's pretty :)
  • tolerates tummy time for a few minutes
  • loves ceiling fans and sparkly things (this girl's future is starting to sound expensive)
  • likes for me to sing to her when she's sleepy... she doesn't realize how bad I sound
  • likes to ride in the Baby Bjorn facing forward
  • loves to be outside and look at the clouds
This week we went to play group on Monday. Her buddy Jasmin (4 months old) weighs 16 pounds and already needs a haircut! When Raegan turns 4 months we can start going to Little Gym classes with Jasmin and her mom. We moved her crib back to her room on Thursday. It was a little sad, but it needed to be done. Our bedroom looks so spacious again! She didn't seem bothered by the move. She hasn't slept through the night in almost 2 weeks :( She goes to bed at 9:30 and wakes up at 2:30 like clockwork. She's not crying, she's just flopping around like a fish and probably trying to get out of her swaddle. I feed her at 2:30 and she sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00. I tried putting her to bed unswaddled while we were in Nashville and she didn't do very well. Her arms and legs were all over the place. Her Moro reflex should be going away soon (the one that makes babies feel like they're falling), and then maybe she'll be ready to lose the swaddle. She rolled over from her stomach to her back on Thursday during tummy time. She looked scared and I was tearing up with pride. Then she started crying and the moment was over, but good for her! I started cloth diapers on Tuesday. She wears them all day but still sleeps in a disposable. When she gets a little bigger and can wear the thicker insert I'll replace the night time disposable. I plan to do a separate post soon about the diapering process for all of you curious cats and nay-sayers.

Over the past couple of years I've realized how much I love Fall. The weather is so pleasant and it just makes my heart happy. However, a favorite Fall tradition has been laid to rest this year: the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. I started drinking them about 4 years ago. Each season I'd get them fairly regularly and reach a point where I thought, "This doesn't taste so good anymore. This is the last one for the year." Last Fall I was pregnant and didn't want coffee during the first trimester. I had just bought several bottles of Pumpkin Spice hand soap from Bath & Body Works when the nausea kicked in. I had to immediately replace all of them with unscented soap. The thought of that stuff still makes my stomach turn. Late in the pregnancy Ryan found some under the sink and used it. I could smell him coming from a mile away and scolded him :) All that to say, I didn't dare try a pumpkin spice latte last year. I got my first one this week and I'm sad to say it has worn out its welcome in my life. R.I.P.
