Childbirth Class

The highlight of our week was the 3D ultrasound. Check out the pictures in the previous post if you haven't already seen them. Or you can do what I do and stare at them a couple of times a day :) I had a tiring week at work. I have a feeling I'll be saying that for the next three weeks until school is out, but at least the end is near. All of our kids are back. We had a boy out for 7 days and it's easy to get used to things being a little easier when someone is out that long. No, he did not have swine flu.
Friday I had my last B-12 injection. My next appointment is May 18th. Saturday was the first session of our childbirth class. I wasn't really looking forward to going because I didn't know what to expect, but we were both pleasantly surprised. It was very informative, and I didn't have to do anything embarrassing. We learned about the stages of labor, watched a lovely birthing video, and ended with a nice massage from my favorite dad-to-be. Next week we are taking a tour of the hospital at the end of class. I'm hoping we can also pre-register while we're there. The only other major thing I want to do is make an interview appointment with a couple of pediatricians. I'll probably wait until school is out to do that. Fourteen more days!!!
When my dad visited he asked for Chex Muddy Buddy mix. What a great idea! I haven't had it in a long time, but now I've made several batches since he was here. Here's the recipe as found on the Chex box:

9 cups of Rice Chex
1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Put the Chex in a large mixing bowl. Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in the microwave.  Add vanilla, pour the mixture over the Chex, and mix until evenly coated. Place in a 2 gallon resealable plastic bag. Add powdered sugar, seal the bag, and shake until well coated.

Here are a few tips and things I do differently: 1) Mini chocolate chips melt much easier. 2) I coat half of the Chex with the chocolate mixture and then add the other half and coat that. It seems easier to me than trying to do it all together. 3) I don't  use the plastic bag. I mix it all in the large bowl. The chocolate mixture gets all over the bag and I think it's messy. I have mixing bowls with lids, so I shake it all up after I add the powdered sugar.

What are you taking B-12 shots for? I am sure you said and I missed it. I love that Chex stuff-we call it puppy chow. So good for us pregnant women! Hits all the favorite food groups!
