Half Way

Saturday was very exciting because we sold our old sofa and now we can get 2 cars in the garage! We've been waiting for this day for a long time. Since we've lived here, we've never had 2 cars in the garage. First it was filled with empty moving boxes waiting to be picked up. Then we got new furniture and the old sofa took up the space. I've been parking inside, but Ryan hasn't, so he's pretty excited. Plus, we made some money off of it and someone picked it up instead of us taking it somewhere. Saturday night we went out to eat with some friends and saw "Taken" with free movies passes we won at a Dirty Santa game at Christmas (thanks, Danielle).
We've been looking at nursery furniture and decided on a set we saw online. I think it will coordinate well with the rest of the house and I really like the modern style. The crib converts to a toddler bed, and the top on the changing table is removable. We can get more use out of it down the road without it looking baby-ish. Before we get it I want to make sure all 3 pieces will fit. I'm not a spatial thinker by nature. I have trouble imagining the size of something even when I know the measurements, and I've never been good at estimating distances. So, I've developed 2 methods lately for space planning. The first involves cutting life-size pieces of the furniture out of cardboard (minus the height) and putting them in the room. I asked Ryan if he thought it was a weird thing to do and he said it was "cute." That didn't exactly answer the question. The second is drawing the room and furniture to scale on graph paper and moving the pieces to find the best fit. It might be a little overboard, but I enjoy it and I feel more prepared. Today we put our 2 new dining chairs together and the boxes were perfect for cutting out "furniture." I think will fit nicely without being crowded.

I can't believe I am half way through the pregnancy! To be honest, it still doesn't feel completely real. Oh believe me, I see it and feel it happening, but the reality of it all has not hit me. I had the same feeling when I was engaged. I always dreamed of being married and having children, but when it actually happens I can't believe it's coming true. I was in total disbelief at my wedding shower and rehearsal that people were there for me (us). I think it will feel more real when we start the nursery and it becomes apparent that someone new is moving in soon. We were out today and Ryan saw a "dad bag" he'd like to have. He said he'll fill it with supplies and keep it in his car. How cute! This morning I did a segment of my yoga DVD and really enjoyed it. I stretched backwards and it caused my stomach to change shape and I think I could see some movement. By now she is about 10 inches long.
It has been warm here, but today it was cool and very windy. There is snow in the forecast for Tuesday. A snow day would be much needed, but I'm not holding my breath.
