Miracle dog

It's a Thanksgiving miracle! Annie is much better and recovering at home! My parents went to the vet last Wednesday with an objective I don't like to think about, and Annie came prancing out with the doctor. She was still very weak from inactivity, but they have been working with her at home and she is back to her old tricks :) I can't tell you what a relief it was to get the phone call saying she was home... and not in an urn.
If you recall, we were supposed to get new furniture and a mattress last Tuesday. The furniture delivery guys showed up first with our dresser, headboard, and footboard, no side rails, no night stands. I'm pretty sure I don't want a bed I can't sleep in because parts are missing, so we told them to take it back until all the parts were available. It's still a mystery to us as to why all the parts don't stay packaged together. Ryan called the store a couple of days ago, but the man who sold the set to us was with customers and didn't return our call. I'll try again tomorrow. On the bright side, we have a dresser and a king size mattress and box springs just waiting to be put to good use.
Last week at work was hectic. I didn't feel like I had much patience. I still feel like it's a good place to be for now, but that doesn't mean it's easy or that I enjoy every minute of it. Friday night we ate at Carrabba's with Tony and Shaina. His parents are coming here for Thanksgiving and will be cooking for us. Tony asked what we like to eat, and I revealed some of my eating habits. For example, I don't like turkey (or dressing) and I get grossed out when the turkey is passed around (because I don't like the way it smells). Last year, after it circled the table it rested right in front of me for the whole meal. I hate to be rude, so I didn't say anything, but it was a little traumatic. I'm not sure why I don't like it. I remember eating it when I was a kid, so who knows. I should also mention that Tony says his mom is just like Marie on "Everybody Loves Raymond" so she will probably hate me.
Saturday night we saw "Quantum of Solace" and really enjoyed it. I don't normally get popcorn at a movie, but I splurged and it was delicious! During the previews I was thinking, "When is 'Angels and Demons' coming out?" and sure enough, it was the next preview. It will be out in May of 2009. I've read the book twice and it's one of my all-time favorites. Other than that, we had quite an unproductive weekend. We managed to go to the grocery but that was about it. Gas is $1.96 at our grocery store! This week at school we have parent-teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday, so the kids don't come. Since we only have 6 students, we should have a lot of time to get things done around the room and make copies, etc.
Enjoy some new pictures of Annie playing at home.
