1 Month

Mr. Wyatt:
  • weighs 11 pounds, 5 ounces
  • wakes up 2 times per night, always at 3am
  • rarely cries, mainly if he's starving or naked
  • has a little bit of congestion from Raegan
  • loves the ceiling fan
  • has gotten used to his bath and doesn't cry anymore
  • size 3 months clothes, but not for much longer!
Having two kids is hard, yo! Let's be honest - this is not the fun part of having a baby for me. I forgot about some of the little things that make this stage so hard. I'm sure some people are much better at the newborn part than I am. I am ready to get a good night's sleep again and get into a good routine. I constantly feel like I have started 5 tasks and not finished any of them. I would really love to empty the dishwasher in one swoop without getting distracted by something else.

Raegan didn't pay much attention to him while grandparents were here to shower her with attention. Now that they're gone, she asks who will stay home with him while we go somewhere. She refers to him as "baby" or "brother" even though we just call him "Wyatt." She likes having him around and wants him to be with us when we read for naps and bedtime. She always asks, "Would he like to come read with us?" She takes toys and stuffed animals to him if he's fussy. During a couple of my teary moments, she has been so sweet to me. One time she said, "It's hard being a parent, isn't it?" Another time I told her I missed Ryan while he was at work and it was hard without another grown-up here to help. She said, "I'm always here for you." Of the 3 of us, we think she's the most well-adjusted so far :)  I tell her it won't be like this forever. He will be able to do more as he gets older. Mainly, I just need to say those things out loud and reassure myself as much as her.
