38 Weeks

Size of the baby & progress: 20 inches, close to 7 pounds - I'm measuring on track now, so I don't know exactly how big he is. I had an appointment this week, and everything is great. While my OB was checking his heart rate, she could see my stomach pulsing and said it was the baby taking practice breaths. I was dilated 2.5 cm at last week's appointment and elected not to get checked this week. I don't like the way I feel afterwards and it doesn't serve much of a purpose anyways.

Raegan's Thoughts: She has been calling him "Arthur" and "Roo" lately and we roll with it. She doesn't ask about him very often. At my appointment last week she told the nurse that I don't like being pregnant. I've never said that, but maybe she can tell I'm done. She said she'll be glad when "that big lump" comes out so she can sit in my lap more comfortably.

The part where I complain a little more than last time: Sleep is all over the place these days. I fall asleep pretty easily and sometimes wake up after about an hour. Then I'm awake for 2-3 hours+. Usually while I'm awake during the night he's going crazy and kicking my ribs (the baby, not Ryan). I nap with Raegan almost every day, so that helps. I've also had some crazy heartburn. You'd think I'd learn from the tomato soup, and then I ate the leftovers two nights later. Second verse same as the first. And also peanut butter... actually the mere thought of peanut butter gives me heartburn, and I eat it anyways. I haven't had many cravings, but milk sounds so good lately, and I'm not a big milk drinker.

Other news: Raegan is doing really well at school. She is very interested in letters and writing. She asks all day, "What letter does such-and-such start with?" Ryan found a neat App that helps her identify letters and trace them on his iPad. She can write several letters on her own that are recognizable.

We had to miss her school Christmas play last Saturday morning due to Raegan having croup. She just realized today that we missed it. She told us she didn't want to be in the play, and we said, "That works out great because it was last Saturday and we missed it." She was perfectly fine with it. I think she was getting nervous about being in it.
