Raegan is so excited about Christmas and Santa. The funny thing is, we haven't pushed Santa on her at all. We're fine with her thinking what she wants about Santa, but we don't like the aspect of "Santa's watching to see if you're good or bad." Anyways, last year I bought her a small board book copy of The Night Before Christmas. She has been reading it all year and has apparently formulated her idea of Santa based on the book. I've mentioned before that she really wants to see him but is having trouble with his beard. She tells me that he shaved it and some times asks if he did. I tell her he has it because beards keep faces warm in cold weather. She insists he saved it, but was in for a surprise at the Christmas tree farm.
Her face lit up when she saw him from afar, but up close involved lots of screaming and laughing (from me). I told Ryan to take pictures no matter what, and this is what we got.
We've been listening to lots of Christmas music and especially enjoying some classics. Raegan's favorites are "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and "Jingle Bell Rock." Sometimes I overhear her singing to herself :) We have put up some decorations inspired by Pinterest. My favorite tradition to start this year is our Advent calendar. We have tried to make it service-oriented with a few gifts and treats mixed in. Some of our activities include: making marshmallows, donating a toy, taking treats to our local firefighters, and wrapping gifts.
