Yikes! It's been a while since I have posted. Raegan and I went to Nashville for a week to visit with family and attend my grandmother's funeral. We took Raegan trick-or-treating for the first time. She dressed up as a cupcake and actually wore the costume willingly, which was a pleasant surprise. We went to 5 or 6 houses in my parents' neighborhood. Raegan got a lollipop at the 2nd house and that kept her occupied for the whole (short) journey. She asked to go home several times, so we went back after about 30 minutes. She really enjoyed handing out candy when kids came to the door. She seemed more excited about that than getting candy. I cannot believe she never asked for the candy bag again! I thought for sure she'd obsess over it.
Raegan asked to come back to NM several times. This is the first trip where she seemed to really miss her things and her way of life. She missed Ryan, too ;) She ran to him at the airport and gave him a big hug. She said, "I've been asking about you." She also really missed her Gymbo the Clown.
Before we left, I managed to score an awesome birthday/Christmas gift, and I have been instructed not to ask for anything else. My mom got me a stand mixer. I've been wanting one for a while since I've been cooking and baking a lot more from scratch this year. It's fair to say that my mom is into QVC. She owns all kinds of hair products and exercise equipment, including a copy of P90X that she has no business engaging in after neck surgery complete with metal screws. Anyways, she knew I was interested in the mixer and asked me if I wanted it. The next few minutes involved frantic discussions about the necessity of the complimentary meat grinder attachment (she gets blinded by the extras), price comparisons on Amazon, and threats from my dad that we "better not order a meat grinder!" (This was not his first rodeo).
Check out this beauty:

I christened it with my first try at homemade marshmallows. I'm not crazy for marshmallows, but I want to make some for Christmas gifts. (Act surprised if you get some). I was intimidated by the recipe at first, but it wasn't too difficult. They turned out great, and next time I will doctor them up with crushed up peppermints.
