Kitchen Mini-Makeover

We have been working on the kitchen lately, and we're really pleased with how it's coming together. I found tons of inspiration on Pinterest, and I found it helpful to start with a color pallet.

This photo was my inspiration for the dining area. I like the versatility of the ledge with the option of changing the accessories and decorating it for Christmas.

Here is the same area decorated for Christmas. The ledge will also be great for little holiday banners.

And here is our version...

Notice the broken tine on the fork. Raegan used it as a hammer while my hands were busy with the tape measure, and I appeared unavailable for supervision. Luckily, it was a clean break and I can glue it back pretty seamlessly. The new lamp shade makes a world of difference in place of the builder's grade "chandelier."

The items on the ledge were all hanging out somewhere else in the house. The ledge used to be in Raegan's room above the changing table, but it was making us nervous, so it's been in a closet for a while. I made the ampersand print and printed at Costco. Raegan saw it and said, "You made an art project!" We are enjoying the changes and think it feels more like us.
