Tuesday is the big appointment with the ultrasound to see if we are having a boy or a girl! The doctor and ultrasound tech will also be looking at the baby to make sure everything is developing normally. By now, she will be able to see the heart in greater detail than before. I'm nervous about this part and hope that the little one is healthy. I've become much more aware of "things that can go wrong" during pregnancy because of the kids I work with, but it has helped me to not take a healthy baby for granted. I think she will also take some measurements of the baby. Personally, I think my due date is about a week too early, so we'll see if that shows up in the baby's size. I bought a couple of shirts this week. I think some of mine are quickly becoming borderline inappropriate. I swear the dryer must be shrinking them, but deep down I know the truth. I'm not sure how much weight I've gained because my scale at home does not match the one at the doctor's office and I've lost track of the "progress." I hate the one they have with the sliding parts because I don't like to watch the nurse keep tapping it to the right. I think they should start the little square at 300 pounds and tap it to the left. People would feel much better about themselves. I know I sound superficial, but in all seriousness it's neat to see myself expanding.
I was very grateful to be able to watch the inauguration at work on Tuesday. It's exciting to say "President Obama" now and drop the "-elect." I missed the oath by a few seconds, but saw all of the speech. If I were swearing in the president in front of millions of people, I'm pretty sure I would write it down on an index card and get it right... just a thought. On Saturday we did a few things around the house and went for an hour-long walk. It's been nearly 60 degrees here all week. We went out for dinner and coffee with Tony and Shaina. We decided to take a break from games this week. Satellite has surprisingly good chai, which is nice because I haven't wanted many coffee drinks since I've been pregnant. It's very similar to the Big Train chai I'm used to from Poet's.
Ryan told me not to tell that he went out in the driveway in his sock feet... twice. He said he used to get $2 deducted from his allowance for doing that. The father-to-be wants everyone to know that he's doing just fine. I think he is having sympathy symptoms. He has been getting up during the night to go to the bathroom, usually a few minutes before I do. Today I caught him scratching his belly (like me); it was too cute! I half-heartedly apologize for the pictures of me with no head, but I hate having my picture made by myself. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow, so maybe next week you can see me :) I'll update on Tuesday night with news from our appointment. Any guesses on the baby's sex?
