On the way home from Andrew's house one night, she yawned. We said, "Oh, is that a yawn?" She said, "I'm stretching. I AM NOT TIRED!" (direct quote from Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems)
Our car smelled funny when we all got in to go somewhere. Ryan asked her what that gross smell was. She said, "Crumbs? ... My bottom?"
At 26 months, she:
- loves Mo Willems books, thanks to our library card.
- falls asleep by the gate at the top of the stairs most nights.
- likes for us to list things for her: friends, family, daily events, and most recently, police laws. It started several weeks ago when she was not cooperating while getting in her car seat. She wanted me to hold her, and I said I couldn't: it's police law that you have to be buckled in. "Oh, okay!" she said and immediately let me buckle her in. There were no threats of trouble, just my random mention of police laws. Shortly afterwards, she wanted to hear more about these police laws. They are an important part of her bedtime routine right now (and a stall tactic, I'm sure). Tonight we said "One more book." She said Goodnight, Tennessee, then police laws."
- loves to play in the cars at Toys R Us. Lucky for me, she thinks it's a play area. It hasn't occurred to her that they are for sale. I wonder if the sales people are on to us? They ask if we need help and I say we're just test driving.
- continues to amaze us with her memory.
- is obsessed with Gymbo the Clown from her Gymboree class. We sing all day. She uses her dolls as Gymbo, ad sometimes we have to turn her into Gymbo. She found a scarecrow at Hobby Lobby and immediately started waving it around and singing loudly for 15 minutes straight.
