5 months

Little Raegan is 5 months old this week! She had a great time at play group on Monday and flashed lots of smiles. She wants to touch everything right now! She holds her arm out and we take that as her way of saying "Let me touch that, please." (She has very nice manners). She loves to touch our faces, the walls, and different fabrics. Ryan said he was a very tactile baby, and it looks like she is too. Now he's a tactile adult :) I've been showing her photos of family members in preparation for all the holiday parties, but she just wants to eat the pictures, so that didn't go as planned. Forgive her if she doesn't greet you by name just yet. We tried, but she probably slobbered all over your face and crumpled you until you were beyond recognition. We're still working on the oatmeal, and I think she's starting to get the hang of it and swallow more of it. Mainly, she wants to eat the bib, so that slows us down a little.

This is one of her favorite things to touch. It's on the wall at the turn in our staircase and she reaches for it as soon as we start down the stairs. We always stop and let her touch the (unlit) candles for a second and move on. That's all she wants.

We were in Sam's Tuesday night and saw a really neat book called The Gift of Nothing. It's about 2 animal pals and one can't figure out what to get the other for Christmas because it seems like he already has everything. In the end, he gives his friend a box with nothing in it "and they enjoy nothing and everything." So Raegan baby got this:

and her mom and dad got this...
I see the irony of it now, but let me explain. We've wanted a new TV for over a year and Ryan has been watching prices and waiting for them to drop. We've been so patient and we agreed to buy it when we sold my car. After several tries on Craigs List with lots of interest from scammers, we listed in on Auto Trader two weeks ago and sold it Tuesday night. Since Ryan has a work car, we didn't think it was necessary to have 3 cars anymore, so we sold mine and kept the SUV. We were both sad to see it go, but very happy to pay off the rest of his and buy ourselves a TV. We drove away from the Focus and her new owners and headed straight to Sam's. Last night was also the opening of Krispy Kreme and we felt we had cause for celebration, but the lines were insane and we didn't need a doughnut that bad. We'll try again later.

We're very excited to be home for the holidays! It's not too late for a Christmas card ;)
