Taking to the Skies

so sweet and content

she's been pushing off with her feet and rocking a little

... and we've fallen over, or maybe she just loves the dog!

This week has certainly had its ups and downs. Raegan had a couple of nights where she woke up more often than usual, which makes for a long day the next day. I can tell I am not as patient and more easily frazzled by little things. By Thursday and Friday she was sleeping 7-8 hours at night. At her 2 month check up on Tuesday she was 9 pounds 15 ounces and 22 inches long. Her weight gain is fine, but a little on the small side. It was the first check up where they ask questions about her development: Does she smile and coo? (yes) Does she try to pick her head up? (yes) Does she put her hands to her mouth? (yes) etc. After I left I felt awful. Here I am, thinking she's perfect (and she still is) but now it felt like "business" with all the questions and check lists. I know doctors have to ask those questions and they are important, but it made me start to question everything Raegan is doing and my ability to adequately feed her.

I took her back to the doctor on Friday because it looked like she developed a rash on her face Thursday evening and was rubbing it with the back of her hand. Of course, by the time we got there you could barely see it. It's just dry skin and she apparently has sensitive skin like me. Ryan assured me it was the natural "first time parent" thing to do and it was good that we took her.

Saturday morning I got my hair cut. I now resemble an adult and not Raegan's teenage babysitter. I ran several errands alone, which was nice. I haven't felt this productive by 11:00 in a long time. I broke down and got her a Halloween costume. Ryan made me! It's very cute, but I think I'll save it and let you be surprised by her Halloween pictures. Ryan played with her on her play mat and she grabbed at the dangling toys and held on to the elephant. I'm anxious about our flight but very excited to be home for a little while! We have a lot planned, including 3 month pictures (a little early), Raegan meeting lots of new faces, and getting spoiled by grandparents :) I can't wait for Annie dog to meet her!

I'm off to finish packing. My suitcase is quickly running out of room with my new travel partner.

Dana, I am so sorry I didn't get to stop by your parents house Saturday. Sam and Gayle were in town and we had plans to go to the Vandy game and tailgate. How long are you in town? I would love to see you and Miss Raegan.
