37 Week Check-up

I had a check up today with a midwife instead of my OB. She was super nice and I'll see her again next Monday and then my Dr. will be back. My BP was 110/64, I gained half a pound, and my strep B test came back negative. The baby's heart rate was 160, and she wanted to monitor me to make sure it was 160 during activity. She already thought that was the case but wanted to be sure. I have no problem with being cautious. I wasn't really nervous about it and it was neat to listen to the baby for 20 minutes. There was a contraption around my stomach to monitor her activity and heart rate and it made a long print-out. Her heart rate jumped when she moved and the midwife said that's perfectly normal. Today was the first time I've been examined and I'm dilated 1 cm. She asked if I wanted her to separate the membranes (and then explained what that means) which speeds up labor for some women. I said "No thanks, not today... maybe next week."
