Somehow I Have a 4 Year Old

dressed as Dorothy for church (those are stamps on her arm, not chicken pox)

first drawing of a person (August 2012)
  • weighs 31 pounds (25th percentile).
  • is 40 inches tall (60th percentile).
  • wears size 10 shoes.
  • doesn't want her hair fixed or wear anything in it. She's growing it long like Rapunzel.
  • has been listening to The Beatles for several months. We have some CDs and check out others at the library. She has a book and a magazine full of pictures. Some of her favorite songs are: "Yellow Submarine," "Get Back," "Act Naturally," "Let It Be," "Birthday," and "Good Day, Sunshine".  We pretend to be the Beatles almost daily. She thinks Lady Madonya (Madonna) is part of the Beatles' posse. She has a pajama set with a collared button-up shirt and pants. She's been asking to wear it during the day, and I didn't know why. Then I finally realized it's her Beatles suit.
  • had a fun year at preschool and is doing great with recognizing and writing letters.
  • has decided that 2 kids is plenty. She used to want 5 until Wyatt came along.
  • is trying to figure out how to be a real princess and a mermaid when she grows up. We told her mermaids are just story characters, but she could be a scuba diver, which is kind of like a mermaid. She said, "I understand what you guys are telling me, but I still want to be a mermaid."
  • likes to help with cooking and washing dishes (sometimes).
  • loves to paint and prefers to stand at the table instead of sitting.
  • is going to a ballet camp and big time swim lessons this summer.
  • is very sensitive and possibly dramatic at times.
  • loves to read.
  • picks out her own outfits.
  • wears her socks pulled up as high as they will go.
  • spends most of her day playing imagination games.
  • favorite book characters: David, Elephant and Piggie, Lyle the Crocodile, Lily and friends (Kevin Henkes), Olivia, Skippyjon Jones, Curious George
  • likes to listen to stories on CD.
  • is a sweet big sister.
  • has an excellent memory. She has a mental inventory of every toy and article of clothing and notices when something has disappeared to Goodwill.
  • favorite foods are blueberries, apples, chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, cheese, milk, lemonade, watermelon, yogurt, maple syrup (any food will work as a vehicle for delivering maple syrup to her mouth), bread, and let's be honest - cookies, lollipops, etc.
  • colors everyday lately.
  • has just entered the world of Disney movies. We started movie night on Fridays. Her favorites are The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Brave, and The Little Mermaid.
Mother's Day Tea at school (She's in a dress my mom made for me).
